Earlier last week , i got a message from my friend Jaime asking me if I was available to play. When I received the deposit on Monday, I was ecstatic to realize they paid in advance. A great gesture. Long week getting my new computer playlists back up. I arrived very early for this #birthday. I was expecting some traffic traveling to Mastic. I had to wait a little bit before the hall was opened. Also with surprise parties you never know exactly when the surprise is going to happen. This party was different as i didn’t have any information. As much as I suggest that we get songs lists and music genres sometimes we don’t and I have to improvise. Lots of requests and using my dj brain to it’s fullest compacity. Audrey & Dave #Wedding Hallocksville 10/17/15

I left early to go setup the Hallocksville #wedding for two reasons. One, Last weekend there as alot of traffic because of the pumpkin picking, wine testing traffic and because it was my first time at the venue and i wanted to be sure I had time to get setup. I arrived around 3pm to be greeted by one of my friends Liz Cantwell. Liz works for Rumba Catering so i was very excited to eat some good food and be in the presence of my good friends. I had to spread my speakers out to cover and outside tent area and the inside barn. The evening provided a few challenges. It was windy and they had the ceremony outside. I had an idea of duct taping a microphone to an acoustic guitar so they could hear the guitarist. A brilliant idea that sounded great and allowed the ceremony to continue without a glitch. I also had a microphone so the bride was able to be heard. The charging station made it’s debut and was recieved with high praise. It was a great crowd and fun wedding. Weather was very cold in the barn toward the end of the night, i’ll be sure to bring some heat next time I visit. This is some of what i played . Unfortunately i lost hard drive access to my laptop the following morning. It’s been awhile since i’ve done a Sweet 16, I was confident with the amount of music that was provided for me. The unknown was the candle lighting ceremony as I was going into it blind (No Playlist Provided). As you know the sport of Dj’ing is about being innovative and I definitely winged it. Emily was also giving out posters every hour which I thought provided a great balance to the party. The party started with a prayer and we were up and going. I got a late call in the beginning of the week to Dj a birthday party in East Hampton. When I arrived they told me that I would be setting up in the bedroom. It’s not often that I make house calls to visit with clients however i made the exception and i’m really glad I did. They were very friendly and French and I could tell immediately that this was going to be a fun party to do and i was spot on. Start time got pushed back an hour due to some rain showers. I came prepared with my ez tent as I didn’t have to setup or clean up in the rain. It rained almost the entire party but the guests were committed to having a good time. I get nervous because i’ve seen parties die because of rain. The music was cranking , the drinks were flowing and people were there for the duration and I was really happy for Francois as he was really enjoying himself the entire time BIG SMILES We started off with some current pop. This was my first #Relay4Life where i was providing the music by myself. I’m always full of energy when i get there and exhausted when I go home. The night began with opening ceremonies at 6pm. The luminary ceremonies were held at 9pm. Dance Hampton performed after that and . Miles sung What a wonderful world and he sounded exactly like louis Armstrong he looked like him too. At 12pm we did a lip sync battle which was new and fun. Most of the games there were scheduled after 12pm never happened , i found that a little strange. i had such a great time playing for Mr Engel at a private party and friends last year and the feeling was mutual as I was invited back this year. I stuck to my plan last year that seemed to work for this crowd. I took a few more chances than i normally do and for some reason i got tired during hour 3. It’s great to have a crowd my age that appreciates all types of music. Makes the dj’s work very easy.. They also setup a pole this year right in front of me which was fun.
